Green Machine 2 by Huffy

Green Machine 2

There's no ride quite like the Huffy Green Machine, which has a sleek and stable, low-profile design that can pick up speed with its high-traction 20-inch rubber front tire. When you hit the corners, maneuver the dual joysticks to steer the back wheels--with their ultra-wide slick tires-- for sick spin-outs. A great choice for advance riders, it offers an adjustable seat that fits a wide variety of kids. Other features include a front-wheel hand brake offers sure stopping power, platform resin pedals with steel crank shafts, oversized chrome exhaust pipes on the back, and an orange safety flag. It's recommended for riders age 6 and older.

The Green Machine is a throw back to when the big wheel was king, it came in to excite the new riders. This has a unique steering system that takes a moment to get used to, but trailing down the street in the green machine is a good time fun for racing for kids, both boys and girls.

While reviews mention that it is not quite so easy to assemble as a big wheel, once its together its all worth it. Drawbacks also listed were smaller children had trouble reaching the pedals (umm, hello its for kids 6 and older and if you have a small child get the mini version "The Green machine H2O), and a seller of the green machine 2 "eToys" does a bait and switch, you pay for a Green Machine 2, and get the mini. Then they offer to send the correct version for more money.

One user review goes as follows:

"I'm 40 years old, and I was in the Big Wheel market back in the 1970's. I didn't have a Big Wheel (the trademark brand name for Marx's cool plastic rider), but rode some sort of dragon-looking knock-off that would be the equivalent, in today's terms, of the Kia of the sidewalk highway. Big Wheels were the stuff back then, and anything other than a Big Wheel brand was just a poor imitation. Then along came the Green Machine (also from Marx), and everything changed. Like a big swirling mantis of plastic and stickers, the Green Machine redefined sidewalk cool - and I had one! The schitck was the unique steering mechanism - two levers that rotated the rear axle. Big Wheels suddenly looked like the tricycles that they were. And they're back. My son has one of these new copies, and it is even better than the original (I, for one, have ridden them both - this is a test drive 30 years in the making). The new machine is essentially the same in all important ways, with three specific improvements. First and foremost, the front tire is inflated rubber. The traction difference is of course night and day. The rear wheels are still hard plastic, but that's what you want. These not only preserve that hallmark sound of rolling hollow plastic over gravel, but permit the whipping spin-outs that the Green Machine design is noted for. Second, the new Machine has a hand brake (bicycle style calipers that grip the front rim). Third, the front axle allows free-spinning - so when we, I mean my son, let's this baby coast down a hill, he can leave his feet on the pedals without trying to spin them at 4,000 rpm - that's a huge improvement. Whether you remember these from your own childhood or just curious, let me give you my strong endorsement - I loved mine back then, adn my son loves his now. This is a winner of a toy. "

Being a baby boomer myself, I loved Big Wheels as a kid, and I never got the opportunity to try a green machine. But I do know that if I were a kid and I had the chance to get one of these babys, I would do my chores and homework all year, and beg like a puppy wanting a bone, just to get one.
It has solid construction, a great sleek design, you can do 180's for goodness sakes. I say yeah to the Green Machines!
I believe there is also a green machine that is a bit larger than this one as well.

Welcome!!

Just wanted to take a moment to welcome you to G-4. I will be posting a lot of great information here, including reviews, opinions, and recommendations for products, places, and just good stuff in general. This first blog will be brief, but check back often to see what new items I have reviewed, what good things are out there, and then give me your feedback and opinions! You are valuable to me, and I hope the information I post here is valuable to all of you! Take Good Care! The Babbling Babe

Whats G-4 Is All About

Thank you for taking a moment to visit my G-4 (Gifts, Gadgets and Goodies Galore) blog. I find myself spending quite a bit of time on the net looking for information on items. I tend to not just stop at one site, but I visit multiple sites untill I have all of the information my poor brain can hold. Yes I like details. I like the best price, good quality, good reviews, and something that is going to serve a need. I never settle for fuzzy details, flashy advertising or questionable quality. As I stated in my profile, I am a single mother, and I live on a limited income. Sooo... when I buy something, I get pretty ticked-off when it turns out to be junk, or poorly crafted. I know we live in a throw away society, but I am not in a position to toss every $10 dollar item into the trash if it does not work correctly. Thats how I got interested in doing indepth internet research on items that interest me.

At this point I would like to invite you to join me in my adventure. Yes I know its not like hiking up to a great peak, or jumping from a plane. But, I hope my reviews and takes on all items in G-4 will be informative, helpful, and even a bit witty. I will take all the information I can muster up, tell you all about what I have found, and then of course form my own opinion. That makes it easier for you to decide if you would want to use the items for your self, or even recommend the items to your family or friends.

Do you have an item you would like me to check out, research, and review? Just let me know and I just might make a blog about it and let you and everyone know all the interesting facts and infomation about it, all of which will culminate with my personal review on the item. Thanks for reading and come back often to see the new things I have posted!
